Great Space Saving Adjustable Dumbbells

The best space saving home gym workout adjustable dumbbells are the Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells. These adjust in 2.5 pound increments from 5 pounds all the way to 52.5 pounds.

As many can relate, I found myself stuck doing workouts in my basement when covid hit. I had a few sizes of individual dumbbells on hand at home but quickly outgrew them. I did some research on different options from buying a dumbbell set to the adjustable dumbbells. If budget wasn’t a worry and I had the space, I’d definitely purchase the XMark’s 380 lb Dumbbell Set and Heavy Duty Dumbbell Rack.

These are the ones I see at the gym or hotels and range from 5 pounds all the way up to 50 pounds. This tree shaped dumbbell rack from RITFIT has a pretty neat looking concept as well (RITFIT LB Rubber Hex Dumbbells Set with Optional Dumbbell Rack)

Due to the limited space and the ability to increase my weight by 2.5 pound increments I landed on the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells.

If you don’t need something to go up that high in weight, I’d suggest the Keppi Adjustable Dumbbells Set-25lb Pair Dumbbells. They are about half the price but also only go upto half the weight. If you have the extra budget, I’d still suggest getting the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells.

Cons

The ONLY con I found with the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells relates to my smaller frame. These dumbbells are a bit too wide for my shoulders when using two at once which I need for a few exercises. This includes Romanian deadlifts and the shoulder press. A quick fix for this would be to do single arm or leg isolation movements which is also really great and recommended by my physical therapist. I can still do the movements with both dumbbells, they just touch ends and my arms extend a bit wider than I’d like.

The Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells have been worth the investment and while I am back to going into the office and gym on a regular basis I still use these on occasion. I use these for keeping up with my physical therapy movements at home. Additionally, if I don’t feel like driving to the gym or don’t have time, I can still knock something out quickly from the comfort of my home. When I am not using these adjustable dumbbells I can easily tuck them away in a closet. Also, if you are unable to lift 50 pounds easily don’t fret! Adjust the dumbbell to 25 pounds, take it off the base and move the two 25 pounds sections separately. Problem solved 😉

Best of luck in your continued fitness journey! Stay strong.
